10 years until Unreal Engine 4?

According to the president of Epic Games, Mike Capps, the fourth Unreal Engine is currently being developed and will be available for the next generation of consoles (as in the PS4 and the follow up to the Xbox 360).

Capps said: "We've got Unreal [Engine] 4 in production right now... it's going to be in the next console generation - our rough guess is 2012 [to] 2018.

"Version 4 will exclusively target the next console generation, Microsoft's successor for the Xbox 360, Sony's successor for the Playstation 3 - and if Nintendo ships a machine with similar hardware specs, then that also. PCs will follow after that."

This is a real blow to Unreal Tournament fans as UT4 is scheduled to be released along side the new engine, which means a 4-10 year wait.

Blu-ray still has a long way to go.

Judging by the prices of the high-tech blu ray players (some reching the $600 mark), it will be a while before they overtake the more affordable DVD.

Although the quality of the Blu-ray disks is outstanding, there just aren't enough people who can afford to invest in it.

With one of the cheapest Blu-ray players costing around $250, the $50 DVD player still has an advantage.

Touch Diamond. Will it live up to the iPhone

There has been alot of comotion about which phone will be the iPhones next rival. Will it be the new Blackberry? Or maybe some fancy all-in-one phone? Well it seems like the new center of attention is the HTC Touch Diamond.

It features a 2.8-inch 680×480 VGA touch-screen, as well as touch-sensitive controls below the screen.

HTC claim that the phone will make web browsing as easy as making calls.

It runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 which brings back the good old Windows vs Apple competition as an added bonus.

MyMessenger is a new product for mobile phone which enables users to chat with friends on either their computers or their mobiles.

Google targets phones in new Ads campaign

Google has introduced brand-new image ads for web browsers on phones and other portable devices meaning the advertisers and publishers can have access to a wider audience.

But does this mean more revenue for the publishers or a drop in mobile internet use because of endless loading times.

Sony might let Microsoft use Blu-ray on Xbox 360

According to The Financial Times, Sony might be on the verge of allowing rivals Microsoft use Blu-ray technology on the Xbox 360.

With HD-DVD seeming like it will be overtaken by Blu-ray DVDs, it looks like the HD add-on for the Xbox 360 won't be of much use. Microsoft have acknowledged this and are on the brink of an agreement with Sony that will give them the rights to use Blu-ray on the console.

The problem I see with this is, the predicted price of a Blu-ray add-on will be in the range of $300. At this price you might as well just buy a PS3.

Netflix drops HD DVD, opts for Blu-ray

Stating that the industry has already picked a winner in the battle of next-generation DVD superiority, Netflix announced Monday that it will stock only Blu-ray discs and drop the HD DVD format. Since the first high-definition DVDs came on the market in early 2006, Netflix has offered both formats.
